Pete Southgate qualified from The Royal Veterinary College in 1979 and, after a number of years in practice, took an MSc in Aquatic Veterinary Studies at Stirling University where he stayed as a diagnostic fish pathologist for six years.
Pete then became a freelance fish vet working as a consultant in fish disease to the developing aquaculture industry and since 1997 he has been a partner in the Fish Vet Group, a veterinary practice devoted solely to the aquatic environment providing a broad based global service to all areas of aquaculture, hobby and exhibition fish and fisheries.
