Print This Page Delegates Astounded by Tuna Trial Results
ACHOTINES BAY, PANAMA - The water level in the tanks at Acotines Bay were lowered by the facility staff on Saturday. This allowed delegates of the IATTC 7th Annual Workshop to count and compare results from light trials conducted earlier in the week. Alex Mühlhölzl reports witnessing some astounding results.
The trials that took place at the facility were in keeping with previous trials done by the Achotines staff.
After manually counting out and transferring several thousand juveniles, the delegates undertook growth comparisons investigations between the tanks. Due to ongoing trials for the possible publication of results I cannot go into details, however, the results confirmed some of Oceanic Tuna's planned tuna hatchery methodologies.
Spawning was at 2230 and egg collection was at 0030, with just under 600,000 eggs collected.
