Print This Page EU has decreased its production of fish over last 10 years
EU - Production of fish in the EU has decreased dramatically, despite more effort put into aquaculture, figures from Eurostat show.Production has gone down with 17 percent during the period 1995-2002.
Eurostat statistics indicate that the total production of fish in EU has dropped from 9,193 million tonnes to 7,596 tonnes in 1994 to 2002.
With the exception of Lithuania, there has been a decline in all EU countries.
The drop in production in big fishing nations like Denmark and Spain has exceeded the average.
