US Maintains Antidumping Tax on Vietnamese Fish Fillets

VIET NAM - The US International Trade Commission sustained existing antidumping duties on frozen fish fillets from Vietnam for another five years Tuesday.

Revoking the duty order would likely lead to a continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time, the commission said. According to ThanhnienNews, it said all six commissioners voted in the affirmative.

The commission’s action comes under the five-year or sunset review process required by the Uruguay Round Agreements Act.

The act requires the US Department of Commerce to review an antidumping or countervailing duty order, or terminate a suspension agreement, after five years, reports ThanhnienNews.

The Commission generally does not hold a hearing or conduct further investigative activities in expedited reviews.

In February, the department also decided to maintain the antidumping duty on imports of tra and basa catfish products from Viet Nam for five more years.
