Bahrain Starts RAIS Launching Strategy

BAHRAIN - The Directorate of Marine Resources in Bahrain held a press conference on 23 June 2009 as part of its communication strategy for promoting RAIS.

The news conference was held at the National Mariculture Center and was covered by television and various newspapers in the island.

The Director of Marine Resources, Dr. A.J. Shams, and RAIS National coordinator Mr. Adly Al-Ansari gaves background information about activities of the Regional Commission for Fisheries (RECOFI), and the Working Group on Aquaculture (WGA) and how RAIS was conceived.

This was followed by a brief introduction of RAIS and how it can be used and what information is contained within the site.

The news was published on June 23 in a number of newspapers including, amongst others, Al-Wasat newspaper (alwasatnews.com), Al-Waqt newspaper (alwaqt.com). Other activities for promoting RAIS will follow soon and which will include distribution of flyers at local meetings and events, distribution to decision makers and stakeholders etc.
