CodFarmers and Aker Seafoods Unite
Codfarmers ASA has, since the fire at the Company’s harvesting plant at Halsa in Meløy, municipality explored alternatives for re-establishing harvesting facilities suitable for Codfarmers’ volumes and specific products.
Codfarmes has today signed a letter of intent with Aker Seafoods ASA regarding a co-operation whereby Aker Seafoods will provide harvesting and processing services to Codfarmers at their plant in Stamsund. The co-operation also include operation within logistics, sales and joint marketing projects.
"Codfarmers is very pleased with the intent established between the parties. With the increased volumes from farmed and wild catch cod the companies will achieve great cost synergies both regarding primary and secondary processing of their products. The Company is on short notice able to increase the capacity for filleting in order to adapt the production of a wider product range. We expect to start production at Aker Seafoods’ facility in Stamsund by October 1st 2009," says Michael Malling, CEO of Codfarmers ASA.
