Fish Festival Showcases New Technology

INDIA - The emerging technologies in the Indian aquaculture and fish processing industries as well as marketing and other allied activities will be showcased at a mega Indian Fish Festival-2009 at Peoples Plaza in Hyderabad tomorrow.

The event staged by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), in association with the State Government, is organising for three days is aimed at increasing consumption of fish.

The festival, which includes a recipe competition will be opened by Union Minister for Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Sharad Pawar.

Mr Pawar is also to lay the foundation stone for the new NFDB office complex which will be built on a five-acre site at Rajendranagar on the city outskirts.

The exhibition will have 60 executive stalls, 30 fish courts and 30 aquarium stalls, including ornamental stalls, two NFDB stalls and 30 stalls of private enterprises from across the country.

The fisheries departments of 10 States, seven ICAR institutes, six other Union Government organisations, four research organisations and colleges will also be taking part in the festival.
