US$40 million for Aquaculture College in Angola

Education & academia

ANGOLA The Angolan Fisheries Ministry is to invest at least US$40 million between 2010 and 2012 in the construction of a National Aquaculture College in the town of Kalandula, in Malanje province, said Fisheries minister Salomo Xirimbimbi Sunday.

According to Macauhub, when the construction work project for the college, which will train basic and medium level technicians, was being launched, the minister said that the choice of this town for the college was the result of studies by both Angolan and overseas experts.

The study, which included various locations throughout the country with potential for traditional fishing, extended to, among others, Huambo, Bi, Uge, Cabinda, Zaire, Namibe, Quanza Sul and Quanza Norte provinces.

The three-storey building will be built over an area of 300 square metres and will include nine classrooms, workshops, amphitheatres, sports fields and two laboratories.
