BASQUE COUNTRY, SPAIN - The Orrua fish farm, until now dedicated exclusively to the breeding of turbot in the Basque Country, is vying to enter the cod breeding arena.
According to a news report from FIS, the firm will begin raising cod fry as of February 2010, in the first project of its kind in southern Europe.
The initiative is set to be developed in Getaria, backed by the Sea and Food Industry Research Foundation (AZTI-Tecnalia) and with the technological support of a Norwegian company, Diario Vasco reports.
