New Measures Monitor Salmon Eggs in Chile

The measures will serve as part of the new sanitary regulations that will be implemented in the fresh water salmon production industry, according to a report from FishFarmingXpert.

Alicia Gallardo, the chief of the Aquaculture Unit of Sernapesca, said that the measures are part of the strategy to strengthen the surveillance and prevention of diseases in trout, Atlantic salmon and coho. The fiscalisation and disinfection of eggs from countries with ISA and Pancreas Disease (PD) will be also very strict, reports FishFarmingXpert.

The institutional plan, as a result of a series of modifications to the Sanitary Regulation, incorporates inspections according to the sanitary risk, and contemplates actions to face contingencies In this productive phase, extends the monitorings to other diseases of high risk.

This plan contemplates rest periods of seven days after the desinfection and cleaning of farms (in land). The mortality record and the reason of it, will have to be sent every week to Sernapesca.
