Recirculation Success for AKVA Group
The team of world leading experts has successfully deployed Land Based Aquaculture projects with UNI Recirculation worldwide for a number of years.
Recently, a contract was signed with Sundsfjord Smolt to build a Norwegian salmon smolt recirculation hatchery scheduled to open in spring 2010. The hatchery will produce as many as 8-10 million Atlantic Salmon smolts annually, making it one of Norway's largest and most modern facilities.
"We have seen a steady upturn in RAS (Recirculation Aquaculture Systems) activities since the acquisition, and recently secured contracts with Mainstream in Canada and PGC Smolts in Chile", comments AKVA group's CMO, Trond Severinsen.
He adds,"We are also involved in a mega-project with National Prawn Co. in Saudi Arabia for King Fish, as well as a marine hatchery for the Malaysian authorities for Tiger Grouper and Asian Seabass. This is a testimony of the fact that our customers trust our state-of-the-art technology and turn-key capabilities. Consequently, we will continue to invest and focus on RAS R&D to meet their increasing expectations".
