Print This Page Study to Clarify Presence of PD
CHILE - The Chilean National Fisheries Service (Sernapesca) has launched a study at 14 Chilean lakes to investigate Pancreas Disease (PD) in the country.
The presence of the disease in the Norwegian salmon industry has lead the Chilean authorities to launch the investigation to either confirm or discard its presence in the local salmon industry.
The Salmon Working Table says the research will find out whether the fish populations had the disease within two weeks.
And although initial findings have not detected PD, the industry is concerned that there is a potential risk of the disease entering the country.
