Turning the Tide: The State of Seafood Report

The report Turning the Tide: The State of Seafood marks the 25th anniversary of the aquarium.

The aquarium says that it uncovers the threats to the oceans, as well as stories of hope and change about the significant steps being taken to preserve what remains and restore what has been lost.

"Our oceans are increasingly affected by human activities, primarily by our growing desire for seafood. How we catch and farm seafood today is imperiling fish and other populations of ocean wildlife, from turtles to seabirds," said a spokesman for the aquarium.

The report says that that the ocean’s ecosystems are improving as a result of both better fish farm management and consumer commitments.

However, it also shows thathere are also trends which threaten fish numbers, including climate change. Commercial fishing and fish farm mismanagement also pose major risks if they become widespread.
