Workshops on Salmon Aquaculture
This seminar aims to open up discussion on new trends and challenges in global aquaculture with reference to the scientific and technological development of the Chilean and Norwegian aquaculture industry.
The main topics to be discussed will concern the problems of global aquaculture with an emphasis on salmon farming, fish nutrition and aspects of diversification.
The seminar will present international researchers from major research centres in Norway, including: Dr. Ole Torrissen Institute of Marine Research, Bergen, Dr. Anne-Marie Bakke Aquaculture Protein Center, Oslo, Dr. Livar Frøyland the National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research, Bergen, Dr. Bjarne Hatlen of NOFIMA Marin, Oslo.
The seminar will also have national speakers from Chile including Dr. Rui Sa, CIEN Austral, Mr. Ronald Barlow, Skretting, Mr. Adolfo Alvial, Advisor and Consultant, Dr. Felix Godoy, CIEN Austral, and Dr. Gonzalo Herrera, Executive Director FONDEF, CONICYT.
The seminar will be held at Hotel Imperial in Puerto Varas.
CIEN Austral, CORFO and Multiexport InnovaChile Foods will also be hosting a workshop on tools for the management of salmonid food process leading to improved biological conversion factor, sustainability and quality of the final product in Puerto Varas on 24 November.
The worksho is sponsored by the Regional Programme of CONICYT, AquaChile, Biomar Skretting, Pacific Star, Marine Harvest and SalmonChile.
It will discuss new methods for assessing the environmental performance of aquaculture activities and approaches for environmental recovery.
