Brescia Group Shows Interest in Chile's Salmon Industry
According to FishFarmingXpert, Diario Financiero reports that, Mario Brescia Moreyra stated that Brescia is now looking at the salmon industry.
Mr Moreyra, CEO of Tecnológica de Alimentos (TASA), said: "We are an investor group and we are looking at all the opportunities that come to us."
He is also the head of the fishing unit of the Brescia group and son of Mario Brescia Cafferata, one of the leaders of the Peruvian holding.
Through TASA, the group participates in the fishmeal and fish oil business, and is considered one of the main world players in this field.
Regarding to the possibility of taking advantage of the current situation that the Chilean industry is facing, the executive added that "even though we are not looking at anything specific, we are paying attention to what could happen regarding the new fisheries regulation."
The LGPA (General Law on Fisheries and Aquaculture or Ley General de Pesca y Acuicultura) is being debated in the Chilean Congress.
