Scotland Increase Rainbow Trout Production

UK - In 2008, rainbow trout production increased by 256 tonnes according to the latest Scotting Fish Farms Production Survey.

Employment decreased by two staff members, and productivity per person increased to 54.4 tonnes, the survey says.

There was a decrease of 2.1 million ova laid down to hatch, and the number of ova imported also decreased.

In 2008 the production of other species increased by 952 tonnes on the 2007 total. Overall, employment increased by 20. There was a decrease in the number of ova laid down to hatch.
