AquaChile Heads Chilean Salmon Exports

CHILE - Chilean aquaculture companies exported $1.2 billion worth of salmon up to October 2009.

The exports were headed by AquaChile, which exported $121 million dollars worth of salmon - 10 per cent of the market - closely followed by Mainstream, which exported $110.7 million worth of fish - 9.2 per cent market share, a report in Fish Farming Expert says.

The Norwegian company, Marine Harvest was the third largest exporter with 9.1 per cent market share and exports worth $110.3 million.

In October alone, salmon exports from Chile were worth $89.1 million, with Marine Harvest having the lion's share with 11.4 per cent of the market and exports worth$10.2 million, the report says.
