AUSTRALIA - The new Gold Coast Marine Aquaculture facility will have its grand opening on Friday, 15 January.

Producers of the multi-award winning Black Tiger prawn, the Gold Coast Marine Aquaculture business has spent the last 20 years making the project into a reality. Completion of the extension now means that all 50ha of ponds are producing fine quality prawns, reports Foodweek.

GM Nick Moore said their product, Black Tiger Prawns remain the most farmed in Australia.

“Gold Coast Tiger Prawns are a favourite among buyers because we have a consistent quality and size and flavour,” Mr Moore said.

“This is important because we know that when consumers want seafood, they want a consistent product they can rely on,” he said.

More than ten years of research has gone into domesticating Australia’s Black Tiger prawn (Penaeus monodon), Mr Moore said, and Gold Coast Marine Aquaculture has been able to achieve a world first -100 per cent of all ponds stocked with domesticated prawns.
