CHINA - The seminar on Aquaculture Development and Industrialisation for the ASEAN communities began on 16 Arpil in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. The seminar is expected to last 20 days, with officials and experts from the ASEAN member states and China participating in discussions.

The ASEAN community consists of southeast asian nations including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Laos and Viet Nam.

Leading officials from China’s fishery department and renowned experts will be invited to introduce the development and experience of China’s aquaculture industry.

The seminar will also hold exchanges on aquatic breeding eggs, feed, health management, processing, and marketing. In addition, participants will visit leading fishery enterprises and aquaculture bases in provinces of Jiangsu and Guangxi for exchanges in organisational construction, branding strategy, quality and safety, and sustainable development.

The opening ceremony of the seminar, chaired by Xu Pao, Chief of the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center of CAFS, was attended by Wu Gang, Counsel of the Department of Administration and Politics of the Ministry of Finance, Wang Ying, Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Zhang Xianliang, President of CAFS, Bai Shan, Counselor of the Department of Finance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and He Xianqi, Division Chief of Regional Cooperation of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
