Turn-Key Breakthrough For AKVA

Economics +1 more

NORWAY - With a new 6.8 million contract for delivery of three complete turn-key fish farms to Cromaris in Croatia, AKVA group is now well underway to meet its strategy to become a true turn-key aquaculture supplier.

Cromaris is the leading Croatian mariculture company and is a part of the Adris Group corporation. The company has recently entered into the aquaculture business by acquiring four local Sea Bass and Sea Bream farms with 30 year experience in Mari culture, along the Croatian coast.

Production Director for Cromaris, Kreimir Pero, says: "Our strategy is to build up a professional and competitive aquaculture business in Croatia and to become one of the largest producers of Sea Bass and Sea Bream in the Mediterranean. In order to succeed, we need to invest in proven high quality technology and achieve similar scale of economics to the salmon industry. Consequently, AKVA group became the obvious partner capable of meeting our needs".

"In AKVA group we are of course proud to be Cromaris' chosen partner in these large turn-key projects, and appreciate their confidence in our technology and capability", says Chief Marketing Officer, Trond Severinsen.

"AKVA group has a clear ambition of expanding its business beyond the salmon farming industry, and it is very encouraging to see that our hard work over many years is now paying off. We now have offices in 12 countries and business operations in all the world's main aquaculture areas. Furthermore, we see a clear trend towards turn-key deliveries both in our export markets and the salmon industry. This allows farming companies and technology suppliers to focus on core business. Basically a win-win situation for both", concludes Mr Severinsen.

The deliveries to Cromaris will take place in 2010 and 2011, and includes large Polarcirkel cages, nets, net washers, moorings, Wavemaster AM320 feed barges with integrated feed-, camera- and environmental sensor systems. Fishtalk has also been chosen as the overall production control software solution.
