Offshore Mariculture Conference 2010

CROATIA - There are just over four weeks to go until the third Offshore Mariculture Conference takes place in Dubrovnik from 16 to 18 June 2010.

The organisers are pleased to announce additions to the conference programme:

  • Professor Patrick Sorgeloos, University of Ghent will present the paper 'Policy, legal framework and key research updates: Asia'. Other speakers in this session include Michael Rubino (Manager, NOAA Aquaculture Program), who will cover the Americas and Torgeir Edvardsen (Board Member, EATiP) who will cover Europe.
  • Dr José Aguilar-Manjarrez, Fishery Resources Officer, fisheries and Aquaculture Department at the FAO has confirmed that he will present a paper on 'Spatial analysis and remote sensing for the sustainable development of off-the-coast and offshore aquaculture from a global perspective'.

Other speakers already confirmed include: Dr Tim Dempster (Centre for Research-based Innovation in Aquaculture Technology), Felipe Aguado-Giminéz (Instituto Murciano de Investigación y Desarrolo Agrario y Alimentario, MIDA, Murcia), Jone Gjerde (Chief Operating Officer, AKVA Group) and Professor Branko Glamuzina (Vice Rector, University of Dubrovnik), together with a number of fish farming companies – Kali Tuna, Riba Mljet, Atlantis Group, Aotearoa Fisheries – who will share their practical experiences.
