Further Greenpeace Clashes With Med Fishermen

Sustainability Economics +3 more

MALTA - Yesterday (14 June) Greenpeace and Maltese fishermen clashed for a second time, when activists took action to ensure bluefin tuna for the future.

During a two-hour confrontation yesterday, Greenpeace activists launched non-violent action from their two ships, Artic Sun and the Rainbow Warrior, in an attempt to free bluefin tuna from a large cage bound for a Mediterranean tuna farm.

It is understood that the Maltese navy were also involved.

"We are taking action in the Mediterranean because governments are failing to do so. Releasing bluefin tuna is the only responsible thing to do, for the future of the fish and the future of our oceans. We will confront any and all parts of the Mediterranean bluefin fishery, the most visible example of how politics and fisheries management are failing our oceans."
