VIET NAM - Provinces in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta are hoping to harvest 1.8 million freshwater fish by the year-end, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

During the first season of the year, more than 910,000 of tonnes of fish were harvested, an increase of 29 per cent over the same period last year.

Currently, the provinces have 195,000ha of freshwater fish, including 8,600ha of tra catfish. The fish breeding farms' output is expected to be five billion fish, which will meet demand of breeders in the provinces and other areas.
