As of the end of August, more than NT$590 million (US$18.44 million) in government subsidies had been distributed to 7,819 fish farmers working on 10,251 hectares of fish ponds and 290 hectares of oyster farms, the agency told Focus Taiwan.
In all NT$590 million was laid out for 45 projects to rebuild the infrastructure of the industry.
The aquaculture industry in Kaohsiung County and Tainan County, which were less heavily affected by the typhoon, has gradually returned to normal and seafood is being delivered to the market again, the report says.
More than 80 per cent of the aquaculture industry in Pingtung County, the area that was hardest hit by the typhoon, is also back on track.
