Marine Farms Launches Cobia In UK

Politics

UK - From January cobia will be available to UK consumers directly, thanks to a new arrangement between Marine Farms and Regal Fish Supplies Ltd.

Over the last six months, sales of cobia have gone from strength to strength, with Marine Farms receiving orders from across Europe, the US and South East Asia, but until now it was only being sold to the trade.

Cobia loins will be sold frozen, in packs weighing between 250g – 300g which serve two people. The cobia will be sold skinned and are boneless, which is ideal for the UK consumer who is traditionally nervous of preparing fresh fish. Consumers will be able to order cobia directly from Regal Fish - both via www.regalfish.co.uk or on 08453 893 971.

The launch will be supported by a consumer PR campaign that will emphasise cobia’s versatility and ease of preparation. Consumers will be directed to Marine Farm’s new website, www.cookingwithcobia.co.uk which features tasty recipes, stunning photography and a cooking video which shows just how easy cobia is to prepare and cook. There will also be a link from the site to www.regalfish.co.uk.

The campaign will highlight too, how Marine Farms used its decades of experience to develop the aquaculture facility off the coast of Vietnam, and the care that goes into looking after both the fish and the environment. All of which are also very important to the UK consumer.

Mark Warrington of Sea Products of Scotland, the sales and marketing arm of Lakeland Group, the UK subsidiary of Marine Farms, is delighted with the deal with Regal Fish Supplies Ltd: “We believe that cobia has the potential to be really popular with UK consumers. It has everything we know they want: it’s easy to prepare, it’s convenient, really versatile and it has a great flavour. Regal Fish Supplies Ltd has an excellent reputation with both the industry and consumers and we are sure this venture will be a great success for both parties.”
