Aquaculture for all

Awards Celebrate Aquaculture Excellence

CANADA - A special evening for proud aquaculture employees last Saturday was the perfect place to recognise those making waves in their business in British Columbia.

The 12th annual Positive Aquaculture Awareness Awards were held February 26th in Campbell River - bringing together people from different parts of the salmon farming industry for a great night.

"We're so proud of the hard work by all of the employees in BC's salmon farming industry - congratulations to all of the nominees and winners," said Mary Ellen Walling, Executive Director of the BC Salmon Farmers Association.

Along with awards, the event is an important fundraiser for PAA - which advocates on behalf of employees, working to provide information about their profession. PAA President Cory Percevault made a presentation of $1,000 to the Campbell River Salmon Foundation.

"It was a great evening - after a very busy year of transition and large projects for the industry, it was good to have a reason to relax and celebrate," said Ms Walling.

The winners of the 12th Annual Positive Aquaculture Awareness awards are:

Business of the Year: Sablefish Canada

Leadership: Barb Cannon, Creative Salmon
Long-Term Recognition: Susan Ovenden, Mainstream Canada
