Algae In Berlin: 5th International Algae Congress

GERMANY The city of Berlin is to host the 5th International Algae Congress. This years congress, where algae and science are brought together, is combined with an informational market. The Congress, titled Micro Algae & Aquatic Biomass, is to take place December 1st- 2nd 2011.

The potential of micro and aquatic biomass is enormous. The developments follow each other in quick succession. The sessions addressed at the congress are fully compatible to these developments and focus on: Micro algae, aquatic biomass & biofuels, Production systems, Biorefinery, Innovative applications, Genetic engineering and sustainable aquatic cycles.

The congress program is being prepared under the guidance of leading members of the algae committee. The advisory committee is committed to develop an attractive and well balanced congress program. Its members mirror the participants of the congress who represent research, processing and the commercialisation of algae. The advisory committee includes amongst others Prof Pulz (President European Society for MicroAlgal BioTechnology, Prof Wijffels (Wageningen University), Dr Ecke (CEO Klötze), Mr T. Enderle (Cofactor) and Dr R. Hahlweg (IBAU).
