Catfish Feed Deliveries May 2011

US - The latest report from the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has stated that Catfish Feed Deliveries for May 2011 were down 22 Per cent from Last Year.

Total catfish feed delivered in the US during May 2011 was 50,068 tons, down 22 per cent from May 2010, but up 65 per cent from the previous month.

Foodsize catfish feed delivered totalled 47,896 tons, down 21 per cent from the corresponding month a year ago. Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totaled 2,172 tons, down 32 per cent from the corresponding month a year ago.

May feed delivered to Mississippi catfish growers for foodsize fish totaled 21,465 tons, down 27 per cent from last year. Mississippi accounted for 45 per cent of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to US farmers.

The other major States with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in May and their comparison to the previous year were Alabama with 18,168, down seven per cent; Arkansas with 3,924 tons, down 38 per cent; and Louisiana with 493 tons, down 27 per cent.
