VIET NAM - According to the final result of the fifth antidumping duty administrative review (POR5) on frozen shrimp from Viet Nam in the period from 1 February 2009 to 31 January 2010, the duty reduced sharply.

The anti-dumping duty imposed on Minh Phu Corp decreases from 2.95 per cent to 1.15 per cent; Nha Trang Seafood decreases from 4.89 per cent to zero per cent; Camimex reduced from 3.92 per cent to 0.83 per cent.

To the other 28 frozen shrimp exporters, the duty rate decreased to 1.04 per cent, lower than that of the previous review (3.92 per cent). The duty rate of POR5 is lower than that of the preliminary result announced by the US Department of Commerce (DOC) on March 2011 (1.52 per cent).

The result of POR5 is favourable to Viet Nam shrimp exporters because they can be refunded a part of customs bond of the previous period and enjoy less bond in the next period, Mr Truong Dinh Hoe, General Secretary of Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) said.

The decision of POR5 strengthens the competitiveness of Viet Nam shrimp in the US.
