Consultation on Aquaculture Space Challenges

NORWAY - On the 29 March a consultation meeting will be held in Tromsø to discuss the aquaculture industry's space challenges. The meeting is open to all who are concerned about aquaculture industry's development in Norway, and to those who wish to share their thoughts, ideas, and discuss the policy set by Fisheries and Coastal Affairs Minister, Lisbeth Berg-Hansen.

The theme of the meeting will be aquaculture, with an emphasis on the industry's land use structure. Central to the meeting will be the Area Committee's proposal for division of the coast in the production area, exposed zones and so-called fire breaks without farming.

Presentations will be based on submissions to the committee's report. There will be some introductions and it will be set aside ample time for comments, questions and comments from the audience.

The government has started to write a new, broad and comprehensive report on Norway as the world's leading seafood nation. Consultation is a part of this work. The main objective of the message should be to develop a future-oriented policies that can contribute to the development of the seafood industry's role in creating value along the coast.

The meeting will take place on 29 March at 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Hotel Radisson Blu in Tromsø.
