Northern Harvest's Bar Island site is eastern Canada's first BAP-certified salmon farm. The company is headquartered in St. George, New Brunswick, and maintains farm operations in both Newfoundland and New Brunswick.

"GAA congratulates Northern Harvest on bringing BAP certification to the Atlantic side of Canada," GAA President George Chamberlain said. "Its achievement reflects a clear dedication to responsible aquaculture that is spreading here and elsewhere."

"As a family-owned and community-based company for more than 25 years, we have been committed to producing environmentally healthy fish that are sustainably grown," Northern Harvest President Larry Ingalls said.

"This milestone would not be possible without the active assistance of the local communities where we operate. Our certification only highlights the company's and employees' long-standing commitment to responsible aquaculture practices."

Northern Harvest also operates a HACCP-certified processing plant in St. George. Its new state-of-the-art salmon hatchery will be one of the largest in the world, Sales Manager Steve French said. Northern Harvest's company strategy is to deliver fresh, sustainably grown salmon with the smallest possible carbon footprint, as quickly and efficiently as possible.
