Cod and Haddock Precautionary Area Established

NORWAY - Due to a high amount of accidental cod and haddock catches, a precautionary area has been established north of the South Island, from 6 of March 2012.

Vessels fishing in this area are requested to pay special attention to this problem.

Vessels fishing inside the area which catch the illegal bycatch should expect consequences.

The precautionary area is limited by straight lines between the following positions:

  • 7033.6N-02030.0E
  • 7100.0N-02030.0E
  • 7130.0N-02200.0E
  • 7130.0N-02300.0E
  • 7110.0N-02400.0E, and further along the four nautical miles from the boarder baseline, two POS 1.

This area will be in force until further notice.

At the same time the precautionary area established by NoCGV Barents Sea on 2 March 2012 are cancelled.
