Based on biological studies, the ban on fishing all species of shrimp from the bays of Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco and Colima, will begin tomorrow (16 March).

Note that in the Upper Gulf of California and the Gulf of Tehuantepec the ban starts on March 26.

The ban will protect the reproductive process and population growth of all shrimp species.

It is noteworthy that the protection of this species is alongside the preservation and maintenance of jobs for fishermen, and the continuity of this important economic activity that contributes to regional development in the Mexican coastal entities in the Pacific Ocean.

The ban also promotes the sustainability of fisheries.
