Poland is the third largest importer country in the EU for Norwegian seafood, and is thus an important partner for Norway. In 2011, exports of salmon to Poland were 2.9 billion. In addition, exports of pelagic products were 370 million and whitefish 220 million.

The minister's programme is as follows:

Wednesday 9 May
12.00: Ms Berg-Hansen meets Poland's deputy minister responsible for fisheries, Kazimierz Plock. Key Issues for Norway in the political talks will be Norway's seafood exports to Poland, and the ongoing reform of the Common Fisheries Policy.

Thursday 10 May
10.00: the minister will attend the opening of the Poland-Norway Partnership Conference. Later in the day, the minister will be hostess to the King and Queen when they attend the final culinary competition "Best Young Chef", based on Norwegian salmon with a Polish twist.
