OIE: White Spot Disease Reported in Madagascar

MADAGASCAR - An outbreak of white spot disease has been reported to the OIE by Dr Bibis Armand Lalaonirina, Directeur des Services Vtrinaires, Madagascar.

The outbreak affected a brackish water pond on a fish farm in Tsangajoly, Tsimafana, Belo Tsiribihina, Menabe.

Of the 296,000 susceptible, the outbreak lead to 281,200 cases of which there were 222,000 deaths and 74,000 slaughtered.

Control measures are being applied and the source of the outbreak is unknown.
