OIE: Koi Herpesvirus Outbreak in Sweden

SWEDEN - An outbreak of Koi herpesvirus disease has been reported to the OIE by Mr Leif Denneberg, Director and Head of Department, Department for Animal Production and Health, Swedish Board of Agriculture, Sweden.

The outbreak was reported at Lilla Edet, Västra Götalands län, on a closed freshwater farm.

Of 37 Koi carp susceptible, there were 12 cases leading to 12 deaths and 25 destroyed.

The morbidity and mortality levels stand at 32 per cent.

The source of the outbreak is still unknown and all movement has been prohibited.
