Misamis Oriental Shellfish Test Positive for Paralytic Shellfish Poison
19 June 2012PHILIPPINES - Shellfish from Misamis Oriental tested positive of the paralytic shellfish poison according to the latest bulletin released by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
Shellfish Bulletin No. 14 released 4 June also raised red tide alerts for shellfishes collected in Dumanguillas Bay Zamboanga del Sur; Marcielagos Bay in Zamboanga del Norte; Bataan coastal waters (Mariveles, Limay, Orion, PIlar, Balanga, Orani, Abucay and Samal); and Matarinao Bay in Eastern Samar.
Balite Bay in Mati Davao Oriental now turned in positive results of the red toxin for this period.
BFAR 10 Director Visa Tan-Dimerin warned the public not to eat shellfish or "alamang" from these areas.
