Important Measures Approved to Boost Fishing Industry

ITALY - Measures approved in the first reading in the House of Representatives aim to help revive the national fishing sector.

Great importance will be on the voluntary system of indicating the origin of fish, so that the consumer can recognise immediately Italian products and so fishermen can get a higher return for the quality of the fish.

The goal is to provide a more detailed consumer information and increase the competitive development of the fish market. Maritime Register Article. 59 will establish an electronic register of sea fishing (REPM) at each Port.

Even for aquaculture, measures have been introduced aimed at facilitating production.

Those who wish to pursue marine fisheries must meet the entry to the register.
