Loch Duarts Nick Joy to Present at Conference

NEW ZEALAND - Nick Joy, Co-founder of the internationally renowned sustainable Scottish salmon producer Loch Duart, is travelling to Nelson to present at the 2012 New Zealand Aquaculture Conference, 1 - 2 November.

Based in Sutherland in the very North West of Scotland, Loch Duart is noted for its ethical and sustainable approach to salmon farming which has earned the company an outstanding reputation in the industry and top-end customers in Europe, America and beyond.

Mr Joy has over 30 years experience in the Scottish salmon farming industry. A passion for fish started with happy boyhood days of angling and has continued through a career dedicated to farming salmon and trout. He has always worked in the independent sector of the industry and vigorously promotes Loch Duarts approach to sustainability in aquaculture.

Under Mr Joys stewardship, the company has successfully implemented ground-breaking initiatives in fish welfare, full-year fallowing, water quality and bespoke fishmeal from proven sustainable sources.

Loch Duart was the first salmon farm in the world to achieve Freedom Food approval was the national winner of the VIBES Award (Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland) in 2005 and the first Gold Award winner of Best Food in The Daily Telegraph/Sainsburys Taste of Britain Awards in 2006.

The company was awarded the Queens Award for Enterprise in 2008 and is an Oceans 25 Ambassador of the Marine Conservation Society underlining the companys commitment to MCSs vision of clean, clear sustainable fisheries and protection of wildlife.
