GOAL Sessions to Feature Top Retailers, Foodservice Operators
19 September 2012THAILAND - GOAL 2012 includes programme topics reflecting the entire farmed seafood value chain. Presentations and panels examine how the marketplace can make a difference in improving the sustainability of seafood.
Benny Chuchen will kick off the November 2 marketplace programme with a keynote on how Pacific Andes is continuing to move its policies and practices toward sustainability.
Featured speaker Norm Grant, who represents the Seafood Importers Association of Australia, will then discuss his country’s rising demand for seafood. Michael Tlusty of the New England Aquarium will report on his Walton Foundation-funded survey that shows how Best Aquaculture Practices certification is reducing the environmental impacts of aquaculture.
GAA’s Peter Redmond will moderate panelists representing such major international suppliers and retailers as US Foods, National Fish & Seafood, Safeway, Sobeys, Morrisons and KFC Corp. as they give their thoughts on sourcing, certification, feed use and the future of responsible seafood. Just how will the wishes of the market affect the actions of producers?
