Mackerel Fishery in Cantabrian Waters Opened Again

SPAIN - The Secretary General of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, has decided to reopen the fishery for mackerel in ICES area VIIIc (Cantabrian Spanish waters) for the purse seine and Northwestern Cantabrian fleets.

The fishery remained closed provisionally since August 16, according to consumption of this species had developed the purse seine fleet.

Based on the review of data from the Central Database of the Secretariat General for Fisheries, the updated data from landing declarations and sales notes, the mackerel fishery was reopened with a quota of 450 tons.

The fishery will remain open until 450 tons is caught.
