The document was signed on the 25 October, during the launch event of the Harvest Plan for Fisheries and Aquaculture, which intends to increase the sustainability of fisheries in Brazil, reports the Brazilian Minstry of Agriculture.

The raw material that would be used for the production of biodiesel is leftovers from fishing that would usually be thrown away, contaminating the environment.

With the agreement, the Federal Government intends to increase the utilisation of fisheries resources and aquaculture, as well as enable an alternative source of income to fishermen.

The fish waste can be an alternative raw material for the production of biodiesel, as well as beef tallow, which, as an untapped material, has become a major source for the production of biofuel.

Petrobras has already done a project in Ceara on the feasibility of fish oil in the production of fuel.
