Increased Quota for Greenland Halibut in 201311 December 2012
NORWAY - The quota for Greenland halibut in 2013 has increased by nearly six per cent.
The parties to the Joint Norwegian-Russian Fisheries Commission in the autumn agreed on a TAC for Greenland halibut of 19,000 tonnes in 2013, where Norway gets a quota of 9675 tonnes.
The arrangement of the coastal fleet's direct fishing for Greenland halibut will be done in two periods during the summer. This is to take account of varying fishing access along the coast.
The first period starts 27 May and the second term starts on 29 July.
Conventional coastal vessels over 28 meters in overall length can not have more than 17.5 tonnes of Greenland halibut as bycatch.
