PHILIPPINES - Roberts & Rose Mariculture Corp, wholly owned subsidiary of Roberts & Rose Holdings, has announced the completion of its sustainability management plan for ethical and restorative sea cucumber farming.
The report is the operating strategy for the enterprise and was developed from a comprehensive review of sustainability and socially responsible reporting frameworks, including leading aquaculture and fishery certification schemes.
Roberts and Rose Mariculture Corp is a new venture of seasoned aquaculturists that focuses on restoring native sea cucumber populations for ecologically sustainable harvest and production of premium food and medical products for international specialty markets. Sea cucumbers, while not the prettiest animal, are very important to supporting marine biodiversity as well as the human diet in much of the world. The company’s innovative method of best-practice husbandry and meat processing integrates restoration of marine ecosystem food pyramids using traditional knowledge and contemporary aquaculture biotechnology.
