Processing Training Adds Value to Seafood

ECUADOR - The Ministry of Aquaculture and Fisheries through the Vice Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture and OFCF-Japan, set in motion a project to build a processing plant for seafood in the fishing port of San Mateo, Manta Canton.

The Undersecretary of Fisheries, Jimmy Martinez Ortiz, said that with the construction of infrastructure, it is suggested that women are trained and able to add value to or other fishery products such as shrimp ointment , dorado, bonito, hake, squid and more.

With this initiative, on Thursday 20 December, guests and officials of the institution tasted the dishes prepared from seafood such as shrimp golden burger, broiled seafood and meat nice burger.

He noted that training the wives of fishermen will begin in March of 2013, the outcome of the process will be extended to other country's fishing coves.
