Minister Confident New EU-Morocco Agreement to Close in January11 January 2013
SPAIN - The Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Miguel Arias Cañete, has said that the new fisheries agreement between Morocco and the European Union is in a good situation, because the Moroccan government has a great willingness to negotiate.
"Hopefully this January the technical and economic aspects will be agreed," said the minister.
In this regard, the minister hoped that the European Parliament will not block the agreement for political reasons. Mr Arias Cañete has underlined the urgency of this new agreement, since "the ceiling of aid to compensate for the shutdown of the fleet is for one year and can not be extended."
