Piscirickettsiosis is one of the most important diseases in salmon aquaculture and has been seen in the regions of Los Lagos and Aysen.

The programme was established by the Exempt Resolution 3174, signed by the national director of the institution, Juan Luis Ansoleaga and recently published in the Official Journal.

The aim of the new programme is to reduce the impact of the disease through early detection and monitoring of cases by applying appropriate gradual control measures.
