The fish can now be marked with "Pro-Monarch Aquaculture Union", which seek to expand their presence in the domestic market.

SAGARPA owner, Enrique Martinez y Martinez, said that 31 fish farms in the region now have a backup in order to market their products in major distribution points in the country.

Farms under the "Aquaculture Pro-Monarch Union" are found in the municipalities of Michoacan Zitacuaro, Angangueo, Ocampo, Zinapécuaro and Naranjo, and have an estimated annual production of 295 tons.

The "Aquaculture Union Pro-Monarch ", supported by the General Coordination of Trade Promotion and Export Promotion Agency and Marketing Services and Agricultural Market Development (ASERCA), ensures that the whole process of production is sustainable and friendly to the environment. This facilitates access to specialised markets such as, "green" or organic, and increases the value added from aquaculture.
