SINGAPORE - Biomin has released a video of a presentation that shows its enzymatic method of hydolysing the mycotoxin, fumonisin, is effective to detoxify it.

The 11-minute video covers a lecture held by Dr Isabelle Oswald (INRA, France) during the company's World Nutrition Forum 2012 in Singapore.

Dr Oswald explained that to target fumonisin, Biomin has developed an enzymatic approach based on hydrolysis.

She described studies at INRA comparing the toxicity of fumonisin B1 (FB1) and its hydrolysed form (HFB1), using the pig as a model.

Results showed that HFB1 caused much less damage in the liver and intestine than FB1.
