Possible Further ISA Case Detected in Chile

CHILE - Following confirmation of an outbreak of Infectious Salmon Anaemia (ISA) in the Aysen region, a further possible outbreak has also been detected.

The National Director of Sernapesca, Ana Maria Urrutia, said that a suspect case of ISA has been detected in center ACS 20 and will be confirmed shortly.

The outbreak that occured in center 18-D ACS has been confirmed as the HPR 3 strain.

The Deputy Director of Aquaculture Sernapesca, German Churches, said the proper control and prevention of ISA and early detection is critical to the clearance of the disease.
